  1. This is a nice collection of quotes. It is interesting to see you quote Christopher McCandless, I was impressed by the film of "Into the Wild" and am now in the process of reading the Jon Krakauer it was based on. He was quite an interesting young guy.

    I'll throw in a quote I've always liked -

"If you are going through hell, keep going."
    --Winston Churchill

  2. Thank you for the comment. I saw the movie and read the book. The book is amazingly well written. You'll enjoy it more than the movie. Thank you also for the Churchill quote. It certainly hits the nail on the head.

  3. You are right. I haven't finished it yet, but the book is great, it paints a very vivid picture of McCandless, and puts his experience in the context of other similar young men with notions of the purity of the wilderness.

As the book indicates, it is almost a religious impulse, like monks heading into the desert to seek some form of divinity or revelation, away from what they view as the corruption of the world.

I haven't decided exactly what I think of McCandless just yet. But he was a young man who lived the life he wanted to, for good or ill. And not many of us can truly say that.

  4. “Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow.’”

I don't know who to attribute this quote to, but I find it very appropriate.
